THE 6th instalment of the Brunei Wedding Festival is now in session with 100 vendors to choose from in the largest such event ever to be held by Songket Wedding at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas from February 26-28.
Present as guest of honour was Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
The Brunei Wedding Festival 2016 sees the return of regular exhibitors and welcomes new vendors, both local and international from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore; to strengthen business ties between Brunei and neighbouring countries.
The event began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a welcoming speech by Hajah Florinda binti Haji Mejenis, the Chairperson of the event.
Shortly after was the official launch of the event via a cake cutting ceremony by the guest of honour, along with representatives from the event’s official sponsors.
The cake, from Cakes and Edible Art by Faridah, was in the form of an intricately beautiful wedding dress that stood five feet.

It was completely edible with three different flavours comprised of chocolate, orange velvet and vanilla with premium Belgium Chocolate and rice crispies from the waist up.
The much anticipated event has much in store, not only for those to be wed, but also for exhibitors and general event visitors via their yearly lucky draw and activities.
Every visitor who spends a minimum of BND100 on their exhibitors stands a chance to win Bride and Groom Songket wear worth BND5,000 by Adila Long and a Honeymoon Package for three days and two nights at the Golden Tulip Devins Seminyak worth BND1,800 sponsored by Vara Wedding.
Moreover, in collaboration with OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) Brunei, a total of 60 of their most well-dressed event visitors may also win vouchers sponsored by Shop @ Sarah’s and Moore’s Hairstyles. Not to forget – their exhibitors also stand a chance to win lucky prizes for the Best Decorated Booth.
The wedding exhibition continues to become the primary platform for local businesses to promote and develop Brunei’s wedding industry, continuing their efforts in levelling the playing field for the local industry with those found overseas, and to help contribute positively to the overall economic landscape in Brunei.
The day event on Saturday and Sunday will be open from 10am to 10pm.
