THE Youth Council under the Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), yesterday held a Tahlil ceremony for the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman.
The religious event at the Royal Mausoleum was organised by the Department of Youth and Sports and attended by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
Other attendees included Permanent Secretary at the MCYS Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, senior officers, staff and personnel of the Department of Youth and Sports.

Also present were 50 youths from various youth associations, the alumni of National Service Programme (PKBN), Youth Development Centre, former participants of International Youth Programme, participants of the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP) 2016, Youths of Language and Literature Bureau, Department of Islamic Studies and others.
The Tahlil recitation was led by Mosque Affairs Department Officer Haji Azrol Alim bin Haji Zaini.
This event aimed to encourage youths to be more active in the participation of religious activities, particularly during the month of Ramadhan.
