AS PART of Malayali Association’s (MA) welfare objectives to support the local Bruneian community, MA with the support of the Penghulu of Mukim Seria organised a charity drive on Sunday, distributing food kits to the underprivileged families around Belait District.
During this joint effort – which took place at Pusat Insani Seria in the presence of the Penghulu of Mukim Seria, Haji Jamail bin Haji Linap, local authorities and MA committee members – MA distributed food kits to 26 less fortunate families chosen by the Mukim Seria Consultative Council.
The charity drive was presided over by MA President Ajayan P Vasu who, in his speech, thanked the penghulu for giving MA the opportunity to help the local community. He said that MA considers it a privilege and will continue to work closely with the local authorities in social and welfare activities in the future.
Haji Jamail also expressed his gratitude towards MA for the contributions and expressed his hope that the Malayali community will maintain close relations with the local community in upcoming activities as well.
