THE Tutong District was the first district to perform a special performance with the theme ‘Raja Perkasa, Negara Berjaya, Rakyat Sejahtera’ (A Valiant Ruler, Successful Nation, Prosperous Citizens) in conjunction with the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to the Tutong District for a Junjung Ziarah (get-together session) at the field of the Tutong Civic Centre Complex.
Yesterday’s drizzling condition did not weaken the energetic performance and gleaming spirit of the 460 performers.
The special performance evolved around a valiant and commanding king who is a symbol of the nation’s dominion, where His Majesty played an important role in shaping a strong citizenry though successful generations that will see no obsolescence through the ages.
The nation’s aspiration to create a Zikir Nation, producing human capital anchored on good morality based on the national philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) has created social solidarity and cohesion that defend the sanctity of the religion of Islam, the show highlighted.
The 15-minute performance was divided into four segments that revolved around religious personalities to the highlights of His Majesty’s leadership style in elevating Syiar Islam (teaching of Islam).

The domination of Syiar Islam in his religious life was showcased through a synopsis on one of the achievements from the aim of Vision 2035, which is education as the light towards building a successful nation.
The final plot of the performance was captured from the aspect of the strength of the social solidarity of various ethnic disciplines from the eight mukims in the Tutong District.
The first segment showcased a young generation of high calibre individuals, where the participants dressed according to uniformed personnel such as police, military, ethnic and community individuals. Their performance followed the beats of ‘Irama Muzik Raja Lalu’ accompanied by melodies from traditional musical drums of ‘beduk’, ‘umpong’ and ‘gambus’.
The first segment also portrayed a group of children reciting a ‘Tekad’, led by a child dressed fully in ‘pendekar’ (warrior) attire accompanied by several ‘awang-awang’ (guards) that carried ‘senipit’.
The second segment highlighted a peaceful nation with a happy citizenry, where a Silat performance with energetic martial arts steps were showcased, alongside captivating drums of the ancient musical drums of ‘guling tangan’, performed by various individuals from various ethnic backgrounds.
The third segment showcased the transformation of the nation’s ‘sahsiah’ or a character or personality/identity of the nation, which was performed by a dance troupe that depicted the transformation that followed the song ‘Menjujung Duli’.
The fourth and last segment centred on a performance from all participants that danced into the beat of ethnic rhythms that portrayed the participation of all races, ethnicities and community from varied backgrounds and education attainments, profession or station of life, working shoulder to shoulders with each other in building the nation in all sectors of national development including in religion, education, economy, culture and sports.
As a closing to the special performances, a prayer to the monarch was recited by one of the young citizens and the hailing of “Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik” in unison by all participants.
