TWO Bruneians emerged victorious as the winner and runner-up in a fishing competition held in Miri, Sarawak, over the weekend.
Bazarin bin Hamid was crowned the champion in the Miri River Mouth Fishing Competition with his lucky catch of a 29.2-kilogramme stingray, consequently breaking the previous record of 13.745 kilogrammes.
Another Bruneian, Razali bin Haji Nayan caught a 17.2-kilogramme stingray, placing him as the runner-up in the competition that saw some 400 participants.
Bazarin took home with him cash prizes totalling RM10,300 as well as fishing gears and a trophy while Razali won a cash prize of RM5,000 and fishing gears.
