OVER a hundred children aged four to five years old from Joyful Kids Montessori School had fun baking their own pastries yesterday at Bake Culture.

The fun-filled day began with a brief introduction to the history of baking by Bake Culture staff before the children had hands-on experience with baking and decorating their own pastries. The children were also shown around the bakery’s facilities.

Leading the group of over 100 visitors from Years 2 and 3 was the Principal of Joyful Kids Montessori School, Caroline Wong, along with 13 other teachers from the school.

The school tour programme designed by Bake Culture aimed to align with the modern learning methodology that schools such as Joyful Kids Montessori School are teaching to their students. The school’s philosophy believes that a child learns best in a home-like setting, and that the learning environment should be filled with appropriate materials that helps with development to provide experiences that contribute to the growth of self-motivated, independent learners.

Joyful Kids Montessori School which started its operation in January 2006 has since visited more than 15 different educational value establishments to give their young children great learning experiences.

“We believe that one of the most important learning years for children are from birth to six and as such, introducing little ones to the world of baking is a mission that we here at Bake Culture take close to heart. We hope that in doing so, one day, the best bakers may come from Brunei,” said Gracienne Parto, a Bake Culture employee responsible for developing the Bake Culture School Tour Programme who was a teacher that specialised with working with young children.

Interested parties who wish to arrange a tour around Bake Culture can get in touch with Bake Culture through their social media.
