AROUND 10 staff from Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) recently hosted a food art activity for the people with special needs of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam.
The event held at the Energy Kitchen in Kiulap saw more than 15 people with special needs participating in the activity which was organised by the bank’s Legal & Compliance team.
Rachel Ang, SCB’s Manager of Legal & Compliance said, “We’re delighted to be able to bring our volunteering ideas to life as we really enjoy organising such activities and spending time with the special needs. We learn a lot by leading these volunteering activities, from how to engage our own staff to get them involved to learning how to interact and engage with differently abled individuals. It’s always very rewarding every time.”
Standard Chartered Bank is one of the few organisations that actively encourages its employees to take time off work to volunteer in the community by allocating all staff three days of employee volunteering leave in addition to their annual leave. With more than 89,000 employees in 70 different markets, Standard Chartered believes that these volunteering initiatives will have a significant positive impact across its global footprint.
