ISB students head to Japan for TYCA programme

INTERNATIONAL School of Brunei (ISB) students Amirah binti Pengiran Tuah and Gabrielle Chin yesterday left for Japan to participate in the Toshiba Youth Club Asia (TYCA) programme being held from December 19-26.

The pair is accompanied by Noraini, a representative from the Brunei Association of Japan Alumni (BAJA) as the advisor during the programme.

Organised by Toshiba International Foundation (TIFO) and coordinated locally by BAJA, the one-week programme aims at creating a network of young Asian leaders who in the future will work towards building and strengthening peace and harmony in the Asia-Pacific region.

The programme is held once a year in Tokyo and seeks to promote cultural exchanges between youths from Asean countries and Japan.

High school students from five Asean member countries (Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand) will be participating in the event, with Japan as the host country. Participants will discuss and exchange views to find solutions to world problems that will impact our future, such as energy, environment, advanced technological solutions and sustainability, through technologies and cooperation.

The students will also attend short lectures, discussions, study tour and at the same time, learn about Japanese culture. They will writing an e-journal and deliver a final presentation on the last day of the programme.
