MINDLESS vandalisation of tyre inflators at petrol stations has become rampant in Brunei, causing inconvenience to the public and substantial financial loss to Brunei Shell Marketing Co Sdn Bhd (BSM).
The issue of deliberate destruction of tyre inflators was highlighted yesterday by Haji Mat Sarudin bin Haji Ismail, Head of Retail of BSM, at the Koperasi Perniagaan & Perusahaan Melayu Berhad’s petrol station located at Menglait area.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that on average there have been three cases of vandalisation of air chuck of tyre inflators and nine cases of theft of hose in a month.
Such acts bring about major inconveniences to users as quality replacement parts are not readily available. Moreover, the installation of the system can only be done by a qualified technician, so it may take a long time to repair or replace the missing parts.
He later urged the public to use the equipment with care for the benefit of all users.
