MICROSOFT Brunei yesterday announced the appointment of Danial Azizan Abdullah Henry as its new Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Lead, and also the subsidiary’s first local full-time hire.

This marks a milestone for Microsoft as it gears up to invest for further growth in the country and empower local businesses to achieve more in a mobile-first, cloud-first world.

Starting in his new role effective yesterday, Danial will focus on accelerating the growth of Microsoft’s cloud-enabled solutions for SMEs in Brunei. Microsoft supports a broad range of initiatives aimed to enable growth in emerging markets in Asia. Part of this work includes developing local talent to join Microsoft’s diverse and global workforce.

Prior to his appointment, Danial was on a contract role as the Education Lead for Microsoft Brunei for two years, overseeing a portfolio focused on training and developing teachers on how to leverage new technology in the classroom to transform pedagogy and inspire new ways of teaching and learning. This includes equipping future graduates with 21st Century skills to improve employability and growing local learning communities through access to Microsoft’s cloud and productivity tools.

“Danial’s appointment is a great example of Microsoft’s commitment to growing local talent in Brunei,” said Haniza Zakariya, Country Manager, Microsoft Brunei.

“Our global mission is to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more, and we are deeply committed to continue enabling growth in Brunei and contributing to its growth story. We will continue to equip local businesses with the necessary solutions as they modern their IT infrastructure and enable their workforce to be more collaborative and productive.”

Technology can play an integral role especially in giving emerging markets like Brunei an opportunity to leapfrog to the regional and global stage as organisations worldwide embark on a journey of digital transformation.

To help local SME businesses succeed in a mobile-first, cloud-first world, Microsoft O365, Azure and CRM Online were made available in Brunei since 2014 with ready local partners to accelerate adoption within the market.
