NEW students of Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) were urged to recognise and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), as he is the ‘Uswah Hasanah’ (the great example) for all Muslims, as they ambitiously aspired to memorise the Holy Quran.

This was highlighted by the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, in his capacity as the Chairman of the ITQSHHB Board, during the reception ceremony in welcoming a total of 53 new students for ITQSHHB that marked the end of their five-day Ta’aruf (orientation) programme.

The deputy minister also advised the new students to show determination and perseverance during their studies as well as to fill their hearts and souls with sincerity in order to gain blessings from Allah the Almighty.

He also told the students to always keep ‘istiqomah’ and make wise decisions in memorising the Al-Quran while learning other subjects as well.

He also reminded the students to be responsible and keep their ‘amanah’ as Muslims, especially in performing their five daily prayers, as part of their efforts in becoming a ‘Huffaz’ in this challenging globalised era.

Also delivering his welcoming remark, Acting Principal of ITQSHHB Ustaz Pengiran Haji Haslin bin Pengiran Haji Ali said that the students have attended various programmes and activities throughout the Ta’aruf programme as to familiarise them with the school’s learning system.

Among the activities that were carried out during the programme included Qiamulail, the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil at the Royal Mausoleum, Al-Quran classes, sports activities and mass prayers.

He also hoped that the new students will be prepared in seeking knowledge especially of the Al-Quran, one that is pure and admirable.

The ceremony later saw the presentation of Mushaf Al-Quran to the new students presented by the guest of honour followed by the oath recitation by the new students. The ceremony ended with the recitation of Doa Selamat.
